What is PAT Testing?

Portable Appliance Testing  commonly known as PAT testing  is the routine inspection and electrical testing of moveable appliances used in any workplace or rental property. Under UK Health & Safety legislation, employers have a legal duty of care to ensure all electrical equipment is maintained in a safe condition.

Any portable electrical item in your building falls under this requirement from computers, monitors and desk lamps to kettles, extension leads, floor polishers and phone chargers. Each must be regularly inspected, tested, and documented by a qualified engineer to meet Health & Safety Executive (HSE) standards.

Failing to carry out regular PAT testing can invalidate your public liability insurance, expose your business to HSE fines, and  most critically  put your employees and visitors at serious risk.
